MEOVV’s Japanese Debut with ‘ME ME ME’ Marks a Bold New Chapter

On July 29, 2025, MEOVV, the five-member K-pop girl group under THEBLACKLABEL, released their first Japanese digital single, "ME ME ME," marking their official debut in Japan. The track, a vibrant summer anthem, has been selected as the theme song for Japanese beauty giant Kao’s new haircare line, MEMEME, with MEOVV serving as the brand’s ambassadors.

This strategic partnership highlights the group’s growing global influence and marketability, aligning their bold and youthful identity with the brand’s focus on expressive beauty and confidence. The accompanying web commercial, featuring the group, is generating significant buzz across Japanese media and digital platforms.

"ME ME ME" is characterized by cinematic strings, sharp percussion, and layered synths, creating an energetic and danceable track suited for summer festivals. The song’s lyrics, blending English and Japanese, emphasize self-empowerment and confidence, with lines like “Love that babe, looking in the mirror / Yeah, the girl don’t miss, she a pioneer.”

The track follows the success of MEOVV’s May 2025 EP, MY EYES OPEN VVIDE, which peaked at #4 on Billboard’s World Albums Chart, with hits like “HANDS UP” surpassing 50 million YouTube views. Fan reactions on platforms like Reddit have been mixed, with some praising the song’s infectious beat while others found the chorus less engaging compared to previous releases like “HANDS UP” or “DROP TOP.”

MEOVV, consisting of members SooIn, GaWon, Anna, NaRin, and Ella, debuted on September 6, 2024, with their single “MEOW,” which garnered 10 million YouTube views in 48 hours. Their name, pronounced “Meow,” stands for “My Eyes Open VVide,” reflecting their ethos of self-empowerment and creative clarity.

With members from South Korea, Japan, and the United States, the group’s global appeal and dynamic performances have earned them the Favorite Rising Artist award at the 2024 MAMA Awards in Osaka. Their Japanese debut with “ME ME ME” positions them as a rising force in K-pop, with a Tokyo pop-up store planned for July 30 to August 3, 2025, to further engage fans.
